Welcome to Super Founders Club
A place where business owners/operators come together to learn & grow from each other
My name is Patrick Searle. I'm an entrepreneur & CEO who has spent the last 15-years in Asia. So far I’ve been fortunate to have built & run two businesses:
1.
Name: Social@ogilvy
Description: A digital advertising agency which in 2 years managed to win 18 large Fortune 500 clients, most of whom on an annual retainer.
Team Size: ~ 20 people
Annual Revenue: ~US$1,600,000
Annual Net Profit: ~US$ 300,000
Net Profit Margin: ~18%
Growth Rate: 30% YOY
2.
Name: GetCraft.com
Description: A Premium Creative Network, which offers a range of solutions to our 700+ clients & 9,000+ creative service providers.
Team Size: ~200 people in 4 countries
Annual Revenue: ~US$10,800,000
Annual Net Profit: ~US$ 0 (as we invest all our profit into CAPEX)
Net Profit Margin: ~0%
Growth Rate: 70% YOY
Now while you may be surprised that I share the above details, I do so to explain why I think a place like Super Founders Club is needed:
1) No management playbook exists
The majority of what I learnt about successfully running & managing the above businesses came from my own reading & research, with only a small amount being picked-up from a few exceptional bosses I’ve been lucky to work for.
While I imagine this is the same for you, wouldn’t it be great if there was a ‘management playbook’ which we could use to look up a problem & get a good summary on how to potentially solve that problem - something which in turn would allow you to spend more time focusing on the unique business problems your particular business faces.
2) No directory of business case studies
Unless you go to a premium business school, or you only care about large publicly traded companies, it’s hard to find case studies, learnings & performance data from different sizes & types of business.
Case studies that I believe would only allow us to learn & grow faster as business operators, but would also no longer put us at a disadvantage when you meet someone who has information asymmetry over you.
3) No sharing of business resources & vendors
As business founders & operators 30% of the work we do is identical i.e.
Business Setup:
Find a business entry consultant - Check
Register a company - Check
Find a reliable lawyer - Check
Write up a Employment Contract - Check
Find a reliable accountant - Check
Write up a Service Agreement - Check
Write up a NDA - Check
Etc.
Yet rarely do we work together to share resources or share recommendations of tools/vendors you have worked with.
Something that means at the best case you simply spend a few days/weeks/months researching all of the above, or worse case you find yourself mis-sold, mis-consulted, locked into a multi-year deal & potentially worse!
4) No time to build a trusted network
With all of the above going on, not only do you have no time ‘to network’, forget about finding time to build a trusted group of founder friends who you can honestly share your problems with.
Something which leads to both founders having the loneliness job & the psychological price of entrepreneurship now becoming all too real.
-------
As such the goal here at Super Founders Club, is simply to help build a community of founders & operators, who can share learnings & insights with each other (for the most part anonymously), address a lot of the above problems & we hope make you a little bit more super at what you do!
